Junior Infants have been having great fun learning about the vet's surgery. ![]()
In the role play area, they are enjoying taking pets to the vets for check ups. We've even had some animals that needed surgery, and one vet was nearly bitten by a pet snake who was feeling poorly!! 😨😄 Lots of the children have really enjoyed playing the role of the receptionist, too! ![]()
We have completed lots of other animal/vet themed play activities also, like vets bingo, lace threading animals, colouring pictures of animals, making animals from playdough and animal cutters, building enclosures for the animals, and washing and grooming the animals. ☺️👍🏻![]()
We hope you like our photographs! 📸😁

Their ability to take turns, share resources, and work together to tidy up has improved so much! They are great little women! 😁👍🏻

Since there was some disappointment over the lack of snow in Dundalk we did 3 different types of snow play today! We practiced our mark making by drawing snowflakes in flour and shaving foam. Then
we played with construction vehicles in snow made from mixing baking powder and hair conditioner! We also made some pretend hot chocolate using pinto beans and marshmallows! ☕️😁👍🏻![]()

At this time of year, silly season can definitely be upon us! Earlier in the year, we explored the feelings of happiness and sadness. Today, we explored the feeling of anger. We discussed different things that make us angry, how we react when we are angry and we brainstormed better solutions/things we could do when we feel angry. The girls came up with some great ideas, like taking deep breaths walking away, talking to a friend or grown up, doing something nice like exercise or art to calm down. ![]()
We discussed how sometimes our angry feelings can explode like a volcano erupting. We carried out a science investigation to show this. We used a bottle and sand to represent our body, bicarbonate of soda to represent our feelings and vinegar to represent something that made us angry. We watched as those feelings came bubbling to the surface and erupted. We discussed how this might be similar to an angry outburst or temper tantrum. The girls really loved this experiment! 😊

November's theme of 'The Doctor's Surgery' was a big hit with our Junior Infants. 🏥🚑🥼🩺 ![]()
The girls had great fun exploring the roles of a patient, receptionist, nurse, and doctor. ![]()
They had great fun constructing the doctor's waiting room and surgery with their blocks and really enjoyed driving patients to and from the hospital in our small world imaginative play. ![]()
They put their artistic skills into action by making a doctor's medical kit, a skeleton and an xray. ![]()
