We had a fun last day together in Junior Infants! We decided to take some fun selfies to remember the silly times we've had together! 😄 Each girl came up with their own selfie pose! 🤣 A big thank you to Ms. O'Sullivan and Lidl for the delicious fruit platters! Thank you so much to all the parents for your continued support this year and the beautiful end of year cards and gifts. I truly appreciate it. It has been wonderful working with your daughters this year! The BIGGEST thank you of all goes to them! I will miss them but look forward to seeing their journeys in the future. We had good fun this week sailing the high seas in search of treasure, and using our telescopes and swords in case we encountered other pirates! 😉 ![]()

We loved searching for buried treasures in our sand area, playing with the toy pirate ship in our small world play area and using the playdough to make pirate themed items. We also made paper plate pirates for arts & crafts which we'll share with you next week.![]()

On the 11th of June 2024, we celebrated our 2nd ever Cultural Day. Flora from Culture Connect came in to speak to whole school about Cultural Diversity and help us understand the importance of respecting other's cultures. After school we had our first ever Cultural Fair and we had an amazing time!![]()

There were 8 countries represented - Pakistan, Nigeria, Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine, Italy, Ireland and Slovenia. We had an African stall with cultural outfits and music as well as performances from a wonderful group of pupils who performed a Nigerian dance and Aidan Moore and his daughter, Síofra who played songs on the ukulele.![]()

The food and information provided at the stalls was amazing and huge credit goes to the volunteer parents from each country who worked so hard to provide a great experience to all who attended. The event was very well attended and there was a lovely atmosphere in the hall.![]()

Thank you once again to our parent volunteers, our parents' association who provided Tea, Coffee and refreshments (they were very busy!) and to all members of the community who contributed on the day (there are too many to mention). A special thank you to EK Fuels (Custom Coffee), School Completion Program (Niall Weldon) and Pimi's Food Store (Peter Folikwe), Castletown Road for providing the prizes for the Raffle.![]()

We have our first ever Cultural Fair in the hall tomorrow after school at 1:40pm and 2:40pm. The children are very excited! There will be food, dance and lots of fun along with a RAFFLE. Please collect your child after school and visit our amazing Cultural Fair!

We also made playdough aeroplanes, played with a chickpea sensory tray to represent the sky and cotton wool to represent the clouds. We enjoyed having races with our aeroplanes on the small world tuff tray. We also enjoyed putting our cutting skills to work, making our own paper aeroplanes. ![]()

Today, we took advantage of the windy day and went outside to fly some giant aeroplane gliders, which was great fun!

Teacher decided that we had worked so hard on our Maths and Literacy today that we deserved a little treat! 😊 So we went outside for some fun in the sun with the parachute. 🌞 We played lots of games! This one was 'Popcorn'! 😁

Hello May! Junior Infants had fun this week exploring making patterns, playing summer Snap! and Summer Memory. They explored symmetry by designing beautiful butterflies with our paint sticks and worked on their fine motor skills with some stencils. The highlight of each day was when each group had a turn making a summer smoothie to practice our ordinal numbers...what ingredient to put in first, second, third etc. 😀 We also had a birthday girl turn the big 5 this week! 🎉

We have had two fantastic weeks of 'Stay and Play' in Senior Infants. Have a look at all the fun we've been having. The girls have loved having their special people in school. Thank you so much to all the parents and family members who have attended and to Ms. Carroll, for all her efforts with the activities and for doing such a great job teaching this wonderful group of girls. A fantastic free event for parents. Dr Mary O'Kane is one of the leading experts in the area of anxiety and there will be great advice given.
We have another fantastic 'Stay and Play' session tomorrow morning (Wednesday 8th May) at 9am for Senior Infant parents. We have a lovely time last week and looking forward to seeing everyone again tomorrow!

This week, the girls have had a ball with a variety of fire themed activities! ![]()

Our new fire station role-play area has been a massive hit! The girls have loved getting decked out in the fire fighters' jacket, helmet, and wellies! They've had great fun using the equipment (axe, crowbar, walkie talkie, fire extinguisher). And of course, the whistles have been a favourite! 🤣 👩🚒![]()

For our water play, the children practised scooping and transferring red, orange, and yellow lids! ![]()

The playdough station created wheels for the fire truck, water for the hose, flames for the fires, a ladder for the fire truck, and clothes for the fire fighters. 👍🏻![]()

The children also enjoyed small world, imaginative play using Fireman Sam's fire station and fire engines to help put out the house fire. ![]()

For the fine motor station, the children constructed a fire fighter's ladder using lollipop sticks. 🪜They also practised their cutting skills and completed a label the fire fighter's outfit activity. ![]()

For art, the children made a collage of a fire using red, orange, and yellow crepe paper squares. They also really enjoyed painting a fire engine and cutting 2D shapes to create their very own fire engine. 🚒![]()

The book fair will finish tomorrow(Friday) at the end of the school day. Please ensure all money is paid before 2:50pm tomorrow in cash to the Parents helping at the book fair to avoid disappointment. The book fair is placed in the Girls' School library and is open for parents to visit at drop off or collection times. You can also give money to your child to pay for their books. Thank you to our amazing parents for their time this week.

Our ever-popular Book Fair takes place next week in the School Hall. The children always love picking their books and it is a great source of funding for the school as we get to spend a lot of the money earned on books for our pupils. We had our final session of 'Stay and Play' today in Junior Infants and it was a wonderful way to finish off a great series of fun-filled Wednesday mornings. Thank you so much to the wonderful parents and the amazing Mrs McNally - the children absolutely loved it! Big smiles all round!
Following on from yesterday's post about our recent learning about gardening, today, the lucky little ladies in Junior Infants got to plant their very own seeds. We planted sunflower seeds, peas, cress, salad leaves, and French beans. A massive thank you to our wonderful caretaker Paul who undertook this task and was so patient and kind to each of the girls! 😁🌱🪴

The girls used giant polydrons in the construction station to build the garden centre. In our sensory area, they enjoyed using cloud dough (flour, oil, and cocoa powder mixed to look like soil) and planted some lovely flowers. ![]()
